CLE Committee Purpose: To oversee the development and quality of the Section’s educational programs.

Goals: Evaluate the target audience for Environmental and Land Use Law CLE programs with primary focus on:

  • lawyers who practice in Environmental and Land Use Law areas,
  • and lawyers who may practice in related areas.

Focus on delivering the highest quality CLE programs, with written materials and speakers, on timely topics in the areas of environmental and land use law. In light of the above, increase the opportunities to market CLE programs and materials to the widest audience.

Activities/Projects

  • Adopt three year CLE seminar and workshop plan. 

  • Sponsor an annual update for the Environmental and Land Use Law Section. 

  • Provide 4 seminars and 2 workshops per year. 

  • Insure quality speakers and written materials. 

  • Review the Bar CLE Report on delivery of CLE and implement appropriate recommendations. 

  • Develop a co-sponsorship policy to best implement CLE goals.

CLE Committee Liaison Purpose: The CLE Committee Liaison is the ELULS representative on the CLE Committee of The Florida Bar. The CLE Committee Liaison votes for the ELULS on the CLE Committee. The CLE Committee Liaison reports to the ELULS on CLE matters affecting the Section. The CLE Committee Liaison consists of the representative and an alternate. 

Goals: Immediate: Decide whether speaker “training” should be mandatory or voluntary. Revise and evaluate CLE lecturer and author information manual. Attend and evaluate (non ELULS) CLE programs. Long range Review CLE delivery to members of The Florida Bar, including exploration of alternative means of delivery, such as interactive television and satellite transmission. Review and approval of CLE publications and CLE budget. 

Activities/Projects: The CLE Committee Liaison works on the CLE Committee of The Florida Bar and is placed on sub-committees by the Chair of the CLE Committee. The CLE Committee Liaison participates in the long range planning of CLE goals and objectives keeping in mind the goals and objectives of the ELULS. The CLE Committee Liaison closely coordinates with the ELULS CLE, seminars and workshops chairs of the committees.
